NDLEA Declares Four Lagos-Based Drug Cartel Members Wanted
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has declared four individuals wanted for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking. The suspects are said to be associates of Lagos drug kingpin Suleiman Aremu Ganiu, also known as Barryshine or Ejeoto, who is currently facing charges at a federal high court in Lagos.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi announced the development on Monday, stating that the declaration followed a court order. The wanted individuals include Olarenwaju Ramon Abdulai (a.k.a. Alhaji Loyingbo), Oluwafemi Akande Abidoye (a.k.a. Igbono, Baba Eje, Ade Iwaya, Femi Iwaya), Olumuyiwa Olufemi Ilori (a.k.a. Murphy), and Alate Kafy Bakare Bukki of Kaffy Travels.
According to the court ruling on January 28, 2025, the suspects are to be declared wanted by public notice, with their photographs prominently displayed. The order states that they are currently at large and have been involved in multiple drug trafficking operations alongside Ganiu.
Ganiu, the alleged leader of the cartel, was arrested on August 26, 2024, after being monitored by the NDLEA for two years. As the managing director and CEO of Barryshine Suleiman Nigeria Ltd., he had been under investigation for his suspected role in four failed attempts to smuggle cocaine to Saudi Arabia and Qatar through Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, between 2022 and 2024. Many of his alleged drug couriers have since been arrested, prosecuted, and convicted.
The NDLEA is urging the public to provide any information that may lead to the capture of the wanted individuals.
