National Sports Festival in Edo State to end abruptly due to lack of funds
The Local Organising Committee, LOC of 20th National Sports Festival, “Edo 2020 has announced that it will end the games abruptly on Thursday due to lack of funds.
The decision to end the festival at 12pm on Thursday was made at the emergency meeting of the Committee held on Wednesday evening.
The LOC says it has to take the hard decision having expended its reserves to kick start the games.
It says the Federal Government is yet to redeem its pledge to support the host state of Edo financially for the cost incurred following the series of postponement of the festival.
You would recall that the sports festival kicked off on the 4th of April, with the Minister of Youths and Sports, Sunday Dare representing the President, declared the games opened.
The Sports Festival had suffered several postponements.
