Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Invites Akpabio to Kogi Project Commissioning, Signalling Reconciliation

ABUJA – Relations between Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) and Senate President Godswill Akpabio appear to be improving as Akpoti-Uduaghan has invited Akpabio to attend a project commissioning in her senatorial district.

The invitation, which also extends to other members of the Senate, was contained in a letter personally signed by Akpoti-Uduaghan and read by Akpabio during Thursday’s plenary. The event, scheduled for Sunday in Ihima, Kogi State, will mark the senator’s second anniversary in office.

“In marking my second-year anniversary as serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to invite fellow Distinguished Senators to join me for projects commissioning in Kogi State,” the letter stated.

The correspondence listed her residence at Plot 101, Jimoh Akpoti Street, Ihima, Okene, Kogi State, as the meeting point. It also advised senators flying into the state to use the Obajana Airstrip before proceeding by road to Ihima.

After reading the invitation, Akpabio congratulated Akpoti-Uduaghan in advance, saying, “Congratulations in advance.”

The development comes months after tensions between the two lawmakers erupted over a Senate seat reallocation dispute, which led to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension for six months on March 6.

Since her reinstatement on September 24, Akpoti-Uduaghan has resumed active participation in plenary, engaging with Akpabio and contributing to legislative discussions, including the Criminal Code Act (Amendment) Bill, 2025. Her invitation to the Senate President marks her most direct gesture yet toward reconciliation and renewed collaboration within the upper chamber.
