Naira Strengthens Against US Dollar Across Official and Black Markets
The Nigerian naira opened the week on a strong note, recording notable gains against the United States dollar in both the official and parallel foreign exchange markets on Monday.
In the black market, the naira appreciated to ₦1,485 per dollar, up from ₦1,500 recorded on Friday, October 25, 2025 — a ₦15 gain** within a single trading day. A Bureau De Change operator in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja, Abubakar Alhasan, confirmed the new rate in a chat.
Similarly, at the official window, data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the naira strengthened to ₦1,452.79 per dollar on Monday, compared to ₦1,457.96 last Friday — an appreciation of ₦5.16.
This marks the fifth consecutive session of the naira’s appreciation at the official market, signaling continued efforts to stabilize the local currency and improve foreign exchange liquidity.
Economy watchers say the sustained positive momentum reflects a gradual return of confidence in Nigeria’s foreign exchange market.
