NAFDAC Warns Public Against ‘Miracle’ Products Sold by Delta Church

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a strong warning to the public against purchasing unverified “miracle” products sold by Christ Mercy Land Deliverance Ministries, a church based in Delta State.

NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Moji Adeyeye, raised concerns in a statement on Sunday, alerting Nigerians to the sale of “miracle waters” and soaps by the church, which are marketed as having healing powers, including claims of curing infertility.

According to Prof. Adeyeye, the agency had received several petitions from concerned citizens regarding the activities of the church’s senior prophet, Jeremiah Omoto, and the promotion of unverified products like “Miracle & Healing Water” and “The Miracle Water from The Pool of Bethsaida.” Some of these products were even advertised with promises of helping women conceive twins.

The church claimed the products were registered with NAFDAC, prompting individuals to visit the agency’s offices for verification. However, NAFDAC investigations confirmed that none of the products were registered.

In August 2024, following complaints, NAFDAC’s Delta State Coordinator visited the church and purchased one of the so-called miracle waters for N3,000. When confronted, church officials denied involvement in producing or selling the products, despite a receipt proving otherwise. They also failed to cooperate with further investigations, delaying responses and avoiding meetings with NAFDAC representatives.

Further investigations revealed that Christ Mercy Land Ministries had partnered with Globod Table Water, a Delta-based company, to produce the products without notifying NAFDAC, violating regulatory requirements. As a result, NAFDAC sealed Globod Table Water’s factory for its role in the illegal production of these products under a false NAFDAC registration number.

Prof. Adeyeye reiterated that none of the products sold by the church were approved by NAFDAC and urged the public to avoid patronizing such unverified products. She reaffirmed NAFDAC’s commitment to protecting the health and safety of Nigerians.
