NAFDAC Alerts Public to Counterfeit Colgate Toothpaste in Circulation

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public warning over the circulation of unregistered and suspected counterfeit toothpaste products in Kaduna State.

In a statement released on Sunday, the agency said its Post-Marketing Surveillance Directorate received a complaint بشأن the distribution of fake products branded as Colgate.

Following the report, NAFDAC officials conducted an inspection at a retail outlet where the items were allegedly being sold. The team identified two products—Colgate ActivGel 100g and Colgate Herbal 100g—suspected to be counterfeit and not registered with the agency.

NAFDAC stated that the products may pose health risks to consumers. The items have since been removed from circulation at the outlet, while investigations continue to trace their source and distribution network.

According to the agency, the shop owner claimed the goods were purchased from a door-to-door sales representative but was unable to provide any documentation or proof of purchase.

NAFDAC urged the public to remain cautious and report suspicious or unregistered products to authorities.
