My Predecessor not Putting me Under Pressure — Gov Eno

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, asserted today that contrary to speculation, he is not under any pressure from his predecessor, Udom Emmanuel, in steering the affairs of the state. Eno emphasized that, in fact, he actively seeks advice from Emmanuel since assuming office in May, as revealed in a statement from his media office.

The statement quoted Governor Eno saying, “On the contrary, we are the ones chasing him to ask him to always come around to advise us.” This disclosure was made during the Christmas worship service at United Evangelical Church (QIC), Awa Iman, Onna Local Government Area.

Governor Eno acknowledged Emmanuel’s leadership during his eight-year tenure, stating, “You may no longer be Governor today, but you will always be my governor and leader. You have a clear understanding of how these things work, and I will always be your student.”

He further announced the readiness of the Akwa Ibom State International Christian Worship Center, established during Emmanuel’s term, for the New Year’s State Interdenominational Service on January 2nd, 2024. The center will host daily prayers for the state and country at its sacred altar, with pastors taking turns.

Expressing gratitude to Emmanuel for the vision of the center, Governor Eno pledged to complete projects initiated during his predecessor’s tenure. Emmanuel, accompanied by his wife and family, commended Eno for leading the state executive council members to the church service.

Emmanuel highlighted the importance of peace in the state during his tenure and expressed satisfaction with the harmonious relationship with Governor Eno. He reassured the public, stating, “Don’t worry about the Governor’s relationship with Udom because we are always here to support and collaborate and not to disrupt his activities.”

The former governor encouraged patience, emphasizing that the governor needs time to address the needs of the people, echoing his continuous support for Eno’s success.
