“My Phone Line Was Cloned to Malign Nigerian Dignitaries” – Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Alleges, Reveals Prominent Nigerians Hacker Contacted

Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi West) has petitioned the Nigeria Police Force, alleging that her official phone line has been cloned and is being used by unknown individuals to impersonate her and intimidate prominent Nigerians.

In a petition dated June 4, 2025, addressed to the Director of the National Cybercrime Centre in Abuja through her legal representatives, M.J. Numa and Partners, Akpoti-Uduaghan claimed that the perpetrators have been making unsolicited calls and sending messages under her name. She described the development as a deliberate and coordinated cyberattack intended to compromise her identity and manipulate influential figures using her reputation.

Titled *“Disclaimer regarding illegal cloning and unauthorised use of our client’s (Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan) phone number,”* and signed by Barrister Michael Jonathan Numa, the petition stated that the incident not only violates her privacy but also poses a potential threat to national security.

According to Akpoti-Uduaghan, some of the notable individuals who have been contacted by the impersonators include former presidential adviser Senator Ben Obi, former Edo State Governor and ex-APC Chairman Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, Air Peace CEO Chief Allen Onyema, Hon. Emmanuel Ukon, and Channels TV journalist Seun Okinbaloye. She also cited a recent call she received from the Area Commander of the Maitama District in Abuja, who claimed he was returning her call—one she never made.

Barrister Numa added that a senior member of the legal profession, Chief Ifedayo Adams Adedipe, SAN, had similarly reported receiving a phone call that appeared to come from the senator. Akpoti-Uduaghan has publicly disclaimed all such calls and messages, urging recipients to treat any unverified communications in her name with extreme caution and disregard.

She has offered to make her mobile devices available for forensic analysis and called for a thorough investigation to identify and prosecute those behind the impersonation.
