“My Children Are Being Denied University Admission Because I Spoke Out on Christian Genocide” — Rev Dachomo
Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) for Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, has alleged that his children are being denied admission into Nigerian universities because of his public comments on the killing of Christians in the country.
In a statement issued on Friday, December 20, 2025, Rev. Dachomo said that despite meeting all academic and institutional requirements, his children have faced repeated rejections during admission processes, particularly in universities located in northern Nigeria. He attributed the situation to his outspoken position on what he described as the systemic killing of Christians by bandits and terrorists, especially in communities across Plateau State.
The cleric described the treatment of his children as discriminatory and unjust, stressing that they are innocent and should not suffer setbacks because of his advocacy. He noted that his name has allegedly become an obstacle to their educational advancement.
According to him, the problem often emerges during admission screening exercises when officials notice the surname “Dachomo,” after which the applications are allegedly set aside or quietly dropped. He claimed that this has happened on more than three occasions, describing the pattern as deliberate and targeted.
Rev. Dachomo stated that his children have applied to several institutions over time but were repeatedly rejected without clear explanations, a development he believes is closely linked to his identity and public stance. He said the trend is most noticeable in northern institutions and should not be dismissed as coincidental.
He added that the situation has caused emotional distress to his family, particularly his children, who have no involvement in his activism or public statements. The cleric appealed to the government and relevant educational authorities to ensure that his children are not denied opportunities or punished because of his beliefs or public advocacy.
