Muslims Hold Massive Pro-Palestine Rally in Lagos, Demand an End to Gaza Occupation
In a show of solidarity with Palestine and a fervent call for justice, a mammoth rally has taken place in Lagos, gathering more than 50,000 Nigerians who have rallied together to demand an end to the protracted occupation of Gaza by Israeli forces.
Organized by the Conference of Islamic Organizations, this colossal demonstration brought together participants from diverse Muslim groups, civil society organizations, students, and Islamic scholars. The event, convened under the auspices of the Conference of Islamic Organizations, was marked by fervent Arabic renditions as protesters passionately voiced their demands for an immediate halt to the loss of innocent lives in Palestine.
Among the attendees were representatives from the human rights community, including Amnesty International (AI) Nigeria, with Auwal Musa Rafsanjani in attendance to express solidarity with the cause.
Protesters raised high placards and banners emblazoned with powerful slogans such as “Nigeria Unites for Palestine,” “Support Freedom and Justice for the Palestinian Nation,” and “Stop Killing Innocent Women and Children.” Other messages echoed the sentiment that “From the River to the Sea, Palestine Would Be Free,” called for an end to the siege in Gaza, decried Israel’s treatment of Palestinians as apartheid, and emphasized that their freedom is intrinsically linked to the freedom of the Palestinian people.
