MTN Apologizes as Multiple Fibre Cuts Hit Network
In a recent announcement, MTN Nigeria disclosed that the disruption experienced by its subscribers on Wednesday was attributed to multiple fibre cuts, impacting both voice and data services.
Numerous users had reported network issues during the outage, prompting MTN to address the situation through a post on its X page. Expressing regret for the inconvenience caused, the telecommunication giant stated, “You have been experiencing challenges connecting to the network due to a major service outage caused by multiple fibre cuts, affecting voice and data services.”
MTN assured its subscribers that their engineering team is diligently working to resolve the issue, with services gradually being restored in some areas. The company issued an apology to its customers, urging them to exercise patience and understanding during the restoration process, while emphasizing their commitment to reinstating full service as swiftly as possible.
This network disruption follows a previous incident in November 2023 when a technical glitch temporarily removed debt from subscribers’ accounts, affecting those who had borrowed airtime from MTN. The company promptly addressed the issue, restoring customers’ balances after resolving the system glitch.
