Movie Producers Suspend Adanma Luke, Initiate Probe into Junior Pope’s Death

The Association of Movie Producers (AMP) has taken decisive action following the tragic demise of actor Junior Pope, who lost his life in a boat mishap on April 10 while en route to a movie location on the River Niger in Asaba, Delta State. Adanma Luke, the producer of the film in which Pope was set to feature, has been suspended by the AMP pending further investigations into the incident.

Blessing Ebigieson, the AMP national president, announced the suspension in a statement issued on Monday, revealing the formation of a nine-member committee tasked with unraveling the circumstances surrounding Pope’s death and that of other victims involved in the accident.

Luke has been advised to halt all production activities until the committee concludes its investigation and a final decision is reached. The AMP expressed condolences to the families affected by the tragedy, describing the news as a “rude shock without comprehension.”

Last week, Adanma Luke voluntarily surrendered herself to the police for questioning regarding the events leading up to Pope’s untimely passing. In response to mounting concerns, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has suspended all film productions involving riverine locations and cautioned against collaborating with Luke until further directives are issued.
