The Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev Emmanuel Chukwuma, has said the recent power play between National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno and the Chie of Staff, Abba Kyari was how God want to destroy the forces in power whom he has accused of insensitivity to the plight of Nigerian people.
Speaking in Enugu on Monday when he played host to officials of the Hall of Igbo Achievers Foundation led by Nze Sam Nwanze, who paid him a courtesy visit, Chukwuma said the administration of president Muhammadu Buhari will soon collapse.
“Nigeria is sitting on gunpowder. There is frustration everywhere because of bad governance, injustice and insincerity of leadership. Whatever is happening in Aso Rock is a tussle for power and this is because the President is not in charge. The President has left his office to the hands of Chief of Staff who is controlling everything. There is confusion in the camp and this is how God is going to scatter them because they are a group of people who have become very insensitive to the welfare of the people and a country where the government is not sensitive to the welfare and security of the people will also have insecurity in-house.
“Right now, what is happening is lack of control of the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief and he is keeping mute because he has no mouth to talk to the Chief of Staff who has helped him to run the country the way they planned. The whole thing will soon collapse and it is going to collapse on their head. It is very unfortunate that it is happening this way and I think it is how God wants to destroy the forces in power.
“Nigeria’s security is in shambles. People have not seen anything they are doing that is serious. I have said it many times that if it took Nigeria 30 months to fight Nigeria Civil war, why is it now difficult to fight Boko Haram for over seven years?
“There is no commitment in the fight and unless something drastic happens, this matter will destroy the country. We have continued to ask questions on why these service chiefs have remained in office? The barracks are boiling. This deceit will soon backfire. The President should know that those leading the fight have failed or have compromised in the task” he said.
The cleric faulted community policing promoted by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu.
“You cannot be talking about community policing when every person that is holding forth in the hierarchy in the East is from the North. They don’t know about the terrain and they compromise with these marauders bearing arms. There is selective negligence and I think it is high time they hand security over to the people that make up the communities” he said.
