Missing Man Found Inside Crocodile

Human remains believed to belong to a missing man were discovered inside a crocodile in north-eastern Australia, as confirmed by Australian police on Tuesday.

The 40-year-old man disappeared on Saturday afternoon near the Annan River Bridge in Far North Queensland, in what is now a suspected crocodile attack. Queensland police stated that while a formal identification process is still underway, the remains are believed to be those of the missing New South Wales resident. Further testing will be conducted to confirm his identity.

The search and rescue operation for the man has been suspended, according to police.

Earlier reports from Monday indicated that a large crocodile, suspected to be responsible for the fatal attack, was humanely euthanised. The Queensland Department of Environment, Science, and Innovation confirmed the reptile, nearly five metres long and bearing distinctive markings on its snout, was found approximately four kilometres from the site of the man’s disappearance. The crocodile, believed to be several decades old, was identified by these unique features.

Local media reported that the man had been at the popular fishing spot with his wife and children at the time of the incident. Authorities are also looking into social media reports suggesting that people had been seen feeding crocodiles near the scene of the attack.
