Military Declares 11 Wanted Over Plateau Killings

The military taskforce, Operation Safe Haven, responsible for maintaining peace in Plateau State, has declared 11 individuals wanted in connection with various deadly attacks.

In a press conference held in Jos, the Deputy Commander of Operation Safe Haven, Tezungwe Iyua, announced the names of the suspects, all male. They are Muhammadu MP, Muhammed MOPOL, Rabiu Ibrahim, Buba Sobe, Senfos Gaine, Nahaska Boderi, Dudi Mohammadu, Habu Mohammadu, Ja’afaru Matakala, Hassan Waje, and Sanusi Dafor.

The Deputy Commander explained that these suspects are linked to multiple attacks that resulted in numerous deaths and significant property destruction across the state.

“Operation Safe Haven has continued to take proactive steps towards securing lives and property in the Joint Operations Area,” Iyua stated. “However, these efforts have been occasionally derailed by the activities of enemies of peace. The attack on parts of Barkin Ladi and Bokkos Local Government Areas on Christmas Eve 2023 is a case in focus.”

Iyua highlighted further incidents, including attacks in Bokkos and Mangu local government areas on April 19-20, 2024, and May 8, 2024, which also resulted in substantial casualties and damage.

“In line with our mandate, we have not rested in our efforts to bring the perpetrators of these heinous crimes to justice,” Iyua added. He mentioned that intelligence-led operations have led to the neutralization and arrest of several criminals involved in these attacks. However, some perpetrators remain at large, prompting the use of forensic technology to identify them.

The Deputy Commander urged anyone with information on the whereabouts of the wanted individuals to contact Operation Safe Haven, the Nigerian Police Force, or the Department of State Services. He assured that a handsome reward awaits those who provide information leading to the arrests.

“Security agencies will not leave any stone unturned in their quest to bring perpetrators of violence to face justice,” Iyua concluded. “We urge the public to collaborate and provide credible information that will aid in securing law-abiding citizens in Plateau State and its environs.”
