MFM Assistant Pastor Allegedly Disappears With ₦30m Investment Funds, Over 200 Investors Affected in Delta

An assistant pastor with Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has allegedly disappeared with more than ₦30 million contributed by over 200 investors in Delta State, after shutting down her investment outfit, Jehovah Nissi Global Services.

The cleric, identified as Pastor Ufuoma Johnson Akomeyoma, reportedly left the Okuokokor–Osubi area in November 2025 after informing associates she was embarking on a prayer retreat. Community members now allege the claim was used to deflect attention as the business faced mounting repayment demands.

Akomeyoma operated a daily thrift (osusu) scheme and later rebranded her activities into a formal investment platform. Her office, previously located on Esiso Street in Agbarho, collected funds with promises of monthly returns on investment. She also managed a cooperative society and provided loan services.

Residents say her role at an MFM branch along the Osubi Expressway bolstered public trust in her financial dealings. Several contributors described her as a prominent church worker whose religious standing influenced their decision to invest.

According to community sources, Akomeyoma had earlier announced her retirement from money collection and refunded subscribers in full before later resuming operations under a new structure. For more than a year, payouts were reportedly consistent. However, by late 2025, customers began experiencing delays.

One trader, Mrs. Belinda Victory, said she reinvested after completing a previous savings cycle successfully. She now claims over ₦80,000 is trapped in the scheme. Others reported significantly higher exposure, including contributors who allege they invested between ₦200,000 and ₦600,000 without recovery.

Another subscriber, Mr. John Benjamin Igbunu, stated that more than ₦600,000 remains unpaid since August 2025. Additional victims reported similar experiences, with phone lines linked to the promoter now unreachable.

A source familiar with the company’s internal operations attributed the collapse to liquidity challenges, loan defaults, and the commingling of funds between the thrift and cooperative accounts. The source alleged that repayment timelines were extended unilaterally as cash flow tightened.

Tensions escalated in November 2025 when the office was locked. Staff members reportedly informed clients that the proprietor was on a prayer retreat and would return to stabilise operations. Around the same period, her residence near Freshville in Okuokokor was said to have been vacated.

One employee was reportedly detained for several days at a local police station after being confronted by aggrieved investors. Sources claim the staff member was pressured to assume financial liability before being released.

In January 2026, the promoter allegedly resurfaced briefly, informing some associates that she owned a property valued at ₦30 million but was unwilling to sell below her asking price. According to sources, she later indicated that even a sale would not cover the full debt exposure.

Further allegations suggest that unsecured loans were issued at amounts exceeding contributors’ savings, creating repayment gaps that worsened the cash shortfall.

Police sources confirmed that complaints have been lodged and that some junior staff members have been questioned as investigations continue. Officers reportedly informed complainants that the suspect’s husband could not be held liable, as he was not a party to the transactions.

As of press time, Pastor Akomeyoma’s whereabouts remain unknown. Her office remains closed, and all known contact lines are switched off.

Affected investors say they are seeking legal redress and urging authorities to intensify efforts to locate the missing promoter and recover their funds.
