A high court in Ado-Ekiti has sentenced 29-year-old Onilearo Sogo to life imprisonment for sexually abusing his 7-year-old stepdaughter.
The Ekiti State Ministry of Justice announced on Friday, August 8, 2025, that Sogo has been added to the state’s Sexual Offenders’ Register. He is currently serving his sentence at the Nigeria Correctional Centre in Ado-Ekiti.
Sogo was arrested in May 2023 by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in Ekiti State. The abuse took place in Aisegba-Ekiti, Gbonyin Local Government Area, where Sogo caused physical injury to the minor.
The court’s ruling underscores the state’s commitment to protecting children and prosecuting offenders to the fullest extent of the law.
