Man Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver 24 Hours Before Traveling Abroad for New Job

 

A tragic incident has claimed the life of 27-year-old Rotji Lazarus from the Gwalameji area of Bauchi, just a day before he was scheduled to relocate abroad for a new job opportunity. Lazarus was killed in a hit-and-run accident late at night along the Bauchi–Dass Road in Yelwa, near the POWA shops by the Police Barracks.

 

According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle that struck him was driving without headlights and sped off in the direction of the Rafin Zurfi area along the Tafawa-Balewa Road. Lazarus, a graduate of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, also held a Postgraduate Diploma in Tourism and Leisure Management from the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, in Benue State. At the time of the incident, he was reportedly selling fruit juice close to the location where the accident occurred.

 

In a condolence message, Bauchi State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Professor Titus Saul Ketkukah, expressed deep sympathy to his Special Adviser, Lazarus Buba, who is the father of the deceased. The Commissioner described Rotji Lazarus as a humble and respectful young man, widely known for his gentle disposition and unwavering obedience to his parents and community.
