Man in Imo Allegedly Commits Suicide After Catching Wife With Childhood Friend
A tragic incident has left the community of Lawa village in Ogbaku autonomous community, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, in shock after a middle-aged man allegedly took his own life over his wife’s reported affair with his childhood friend. The heartbreaking event occurred last Sunday.
According to a resident identified as Gloria, the deceased had long confronted his wife and the man involved—who is also his brother from the same kindred—over suspicions of an illicit relationship. Despite repeated warnings, the wife allegedly vowed to continue the affair, citing her lover’s wealth as a rich widower compared to her husband’s poor financial status.
On the day of the incident, the man reportedly caught his wife and the alleged lover in their matrimonial bed. Gloria said the discovery appeared to push him over the edge, leading him to take his life. His body was later found hanging from a tree near the compound of the childhood friend accused of being involved in the affair.
The case has sparked deep sorrow and outrage within the community, as residents struggle to come to terms with the circumstances surrounding the death. The police have yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
