Man Gets Life Imprisonment for Raping University Student
A Bayelsa State high court in Yenagoa has sentenced Daniel Amaso to life imprisonment for raping a 17-year-old pre-degree student of Niger Delta University in Amassoma. The convict broke into the student’s apartment, armed with a knife, and raped her under duress. To add to the trauma, he also stole her phone.
Amaso faced charges of rape, armed robbery, and causing grievous harm before Hon. Justice Christine Kombo-Enegesi. After being found guilty on all three counts, he received life imprisonment for rape and armed robbery, and an additional 7 years for inflicting grievous harm.
