Man Allegedly Stabs Younger Brother to Death Over Dispute Involving Wife’s Missing Money in Delta
A tragic incident unfolded in Ugbokodo, Okpe Community, Delta State, where a man identified as Paul allegedly stabbed his younger brother to death following a dispute involving his wife.
The Delta State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Olufemi Abaniwonda, confirmed the incident. Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, told our correspondent in Warri that the suspect has been arrested.
According to reports, the conflict began when two thousand naira belonging to Paul’s wife went missing. She accused the younger brother, Saturday, of stealing the money. Saturday denied the accusation, but the woman insisted and grabbed his shirt, leading to a heated argument.
The situation escalated when Saturday reportedly slapped his elder brother’s wife during the confrontation. Neighbors intervened and separated the parties involved. Shortly after, the woman called her husband, known locally as Papa Jeffery, who arrived at the scene with one of his sons.
Without clarifying what had occurred, Paul and his son pursued Saturday to the nearby waterside, where they allegedly assaulted and stabbed him multiple times, resulting in his death.
In the aftermath, furious youths in the Ugbokodo community reacted by setting fire to the suspect’s house and his wife’s shop. The unrest was only quelled through prompt intervention by police and soldiers.
The Delta State Police have assured the public that further investigations are ongoing and that justice will be served.
