Man Allegedly Kills 60-year-Old Neighbor Who Repeatedly Asked Why He Was Still Single

In the South Tapanuli regency of North Sumatra, Indonesia, a 45-year-old man has allegedly killed his 60-year-old neighbor. The altercation reportedly stemmed from the neighbor’s persistent questioning about why the man was still unmarried, as reported by the Straits Times.

The victim, Asgim Irianto, was identified by Assistant Police Commissioner Maria Marpaung. The alleged assailant, Parlindungan Siregar, is said to have become increasingly frustrated with Irianto’s repeated inquiries about his single status.

According to statements provided by Irianto’s wife, Siregar came to their home armed with a piece of wood and initiated an attack on Irianto. Despite fleeing into the street, Irianto was pursued by Siregar, who delivered a fatal blow to Irianto’s head. Even after Irianto fell to the ground, Siregar continued his assault until bystanders intervened.

Emergency responders rushed Irianto to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries en route. Siregar was arrested shortly after the incident. Authorities suspect that the violent outburst was fueled by Siregar’s irritation over Irianto’s incessant questioning about his marital status. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
