Loss at UNIPORT: Final Year Student’s Death Linked to Suspected Drug Overdose

In a devastating incident at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), a final year student named Mudiaga has lost his life due to a suspected overdose of the illicit drug Colorado, commonly known as synthetic cannabinoids or “Spice.”

Mudiaga, unaware of the substance’s nature, smoked what he believed to be a regular cigarette given to him by a friend after a game of football. Unfortunately, after consuming the “Colorado,” Mudiaga and his friends lost consciousness.

While the others eventually regained consciousness, Mudiaga did not. He was swiftly taken to the hospital, where, upon arrival, he was pronounced dead.

Dr. Sam Kpenu, the UNIPORT spokesperson, confirmed the tragic incident, highlighting that it occurred off-campus. The friend who provided Mudiaga with the fatal substance has been apprehended by the police.

As of now, the Rivers State Police Command has not issued a statement on the incident, leaving the UNIPORT community in shock and mourning the untimely loss of one of its promising students.
