London Stabbing: Nigerian National Okechukwu Iweha Killed, Suspect Arrested

A 46-year-old Nigerian man, Okechukwu Iweha, was stabbed to death in Haringey, London. The Metropolitan Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder.

According to a police statement, officers apprehended a 28-year-old man in Croydon on Monday, 22 April, on suspicion of murder. The suspect was taken to a north London police station, where he remains in custody as the investigation continues.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, leading the investigation from the Specialist Crime Command, stated that although an arrest has been made, the police are still seeking information from the public. “We are making good progress, but we would like to hear from anyone who might have additional information, no matter how small it seems,” he said.

The incident occurred on Sunday, 7 April, when police were called to the junction of Worcester Avenue and Northumberland Park, N17, at 05:51 hrs, after a man was found unresponsive. Emergency services, including officers and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, arrived to find Okechukwu suffering from stab wounds. Despite their efforts to resuscitate him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination conducted at Haringey Mortuary on 10 April revealed that the cause of death was a stab wound to the chest. The police have been in contact with Okechukwu’s family, providing support through specialist officers during this difficult time.

Authorities previously arrested a 33-year-old man on 10 April, but he was released without further action after further investigation.

The police urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward. If you have any details, contact the Metropolitan Police or Crimestoppers anonymously.
