Leaked Audio: FRUSTRATED CAMPAIGN DG AMAECHI CRIES OUT: “THE PRESIDENT IS NOT LISTENING TO ANYONE. HE DOESN’T CARE. YOU CAN WRITE WHAT YOU WANT YO WRITE. THE PRESIDENT DOESN’T CARE. DOES HE READ?”
As rumours of internal frustrations of key allies of President Buhari over his lackluster performance in government continue to grow in the leadup to the 2019 General Elections, a shocking audio recording believed to be of a frustrated Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi has surfaced.
Rotimi Amaechi, who voiced his frustration off record while speaking to journalists recently, unknown to him that he was being recorded, bemoaned the President’s attitude towards public outcry on his poor performance. In the leaked audio, Amaechi who sounded angry said the President doesn’t listen to anybody anymore and “he doesn’t care” presumably about the outcries of Nigerians over his poor performance.
Amaechi even asked if the President reads the news, confirming earlier reports in this regard that he doesn’t.
The leaked audio while being the first solid indication of a crack within the ranks of the President’s men and a disconnect between the Presidency and Nigerians, may confirm fears within the APC that the President would lose the 2019 General Elections. Although, it may also indicate the President’s resolve to impose himself on Nigerians via military fiat and antidemocratic measures. The recent appointment of the President’s niece Amina Zakari as INEC Presidential Election Collation Officer is believed to be part of a grand plan to undermine the 2019 General Elections and subvert the will and wishes of Nigerians in spite of the abysmal performance of the APC across board in Nigeria.
