Lawmaker Representing Wike’s LG Resigns, Throws Support Behind Governor Fubara

Hon Akor Prince Nna, the representative of former Governor Nyesom Wike’s ward in Obio/Akpor Local Government, has tendered his resignation from the Rivers State House of Assembly. The announcement comes amid the ongoing power struggle in the state.

In an official letter dated March 6, addressed to the Executive Chairman of the Obio/Akpor Legislative Council, Rumu Odomaya, Rivers State, Hon Akor Prince Nna expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as the Leader of the Legislative Council.

The letter read, “I have resigned my position as the Leader of Obio/Akpor Legislative Council and as a councilor representing the good people of Ward 9. This resignation stems from my personal conviction to align with the truth amidst the current political issues in Rivers State.”

Hon Nna cited unwarranted intimidation, marginalization, coercion, bullying, and arm-twisting from certain leaders in Obio/Akpor Local Government as contributing factors to his decision.

Referencing a quote by Senator Dino Melaye, he stated, “If you speak the truth, you die. If you lie, you die. Better to speak the truth and die.” The lawmaker expressed his alignment with the “SIMplified Movement” and pledged to work towards the development and liberation of Rivers State.

He emphasized his commitment to supporting Governor Siminalayi Fubara in the state’s political landscape, as well as endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “RENEWED HOPE” agenda. The resignation, according to Hon Akor Prince Nna, will not deter him from actively contributing to the state’s progress and the empowerment of its people.
