Lamine Yamal Stars As Spain Overpower France to Reach Euro Final

In a stunning performance, 16-year-old Lamine Yamal made history as the youngest goalscorer in the men’s European Championship, leading Spain to a 2-1 comeback victory over France in the Euro 2024 semi-final in Munich.

Trailing early after Randal Kolo Muani headed in a Kylian Mbappe cross in the ninth minute, Spain turned the tide with two quick goals. Yamal’s equalizer came from a remarkable long-range strike, curling the ball into the top corner just out of reach for French goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

Spain’s second goal came shortly after, as Dani Olmo capitalized on a loose ball, sending a deflected shot off Jules Kounde into the net. The Spaniards, known for their midfield mastery, maintained control for the rest of the match, securing their place in the final.

This victory marks Spain as the first team to win six games at the Euros, putting them on the brink of a record-breaking fourth title. Despite France’s impressive lineup, including star Kylian Mbappe, they struggled to find the net, raising questions about their offensive strategies.

Spain will face either the Netherlands or England in the final in Berlin, where Yamal, turning 17 just before the match, will have another chance to shine.

Spain’s initial concerns were over veteran players Jesus Navas and Nacho, filling in for suspended teammates, but it was the younger Aymeric Laporte and Marc Cucurella who faltered in defense early on. However, it was Yamal’s brilliance that re-energized the team.

France’s best opportunity to equalize came late in the match, but Mbappe’s shot flew over the bar, leaving Spain to celebrate a historic win.
