Kwara Killings: Tinubu Orders Army Deployment to Kaiama

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the deployment of an army battalion to Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State following the killing of villagers by armed attackers.

The directive was announced in a statement issued Wednesday night by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

According to the statement, the new military command will lead **Operation Savannah Shield**, aimed at confronting the attackers and protecting communities in the area.

President Tinubu condemned the attack and described the assailants as targeting unarmed residents. He noted that the victims had rejected efforts by the gunmen to impose extremist beliefs on the community.

The President called for closer coordination between federal and state authorities to support affected residents and ensure accountability for those responsible.

He also expressed condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the people and government of Kwara State.
