Kidnappers Kill Two Hostages Due to Ransom Delay

Two residents of the Gwargwada community in the Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been killed by their abductors due to a delay in the payment of ransom.

The victims, identified as Mohammed Danladi and Nasiru Yusuf, were reportedly abducted alongside a herder and a woman at Gwombe junction along the Gwargwada-Rubochi road last Wednesday. The kidnappers demanded N500,000 for each victim, but the families were only able to raise N500,000 in total.

A relative of the deceased, Shuaibu Abdullahi, revealed that the kidnappers contacted the family on Friday, only to inform them that two of the hostages had already been killed because of the delay in meeting their demands.

“The kidnappers’ leader called on Friday, and the family members told them that they were only able to raise N500,000, not knowing that they had already killed two of them because the family delayed the ransom,” Abdullahi said.

The abductors eventually released the herder and the woman after collecting N3 million in ransom at their hideout in Kotonkarfe forest, Kogi State.

Confirming the incident, the traditional ruler of Gwargwada, Ugbada Alhaji Hussaini Mam, expressed sorrow over the loss of the two young men. He stated that the victims were kidnapped while returning from Rubochi and were killed due to the delay in paying the ransom.

“Unfortunately, the two young men were killed by their abductors simply because of the delay in paying the ransom they demanded,” the traditional ruler said.
