Kidnappers Demand Massive ₦30M Ransom for Abuja Army Estate Abductees
The kidnappers that targeted Barrister Cyril Adikwu’s family are demanding a hefty ransom of over ₦30 million for the release of his wife and two in-laws.
Recall that the incident happened on Thursday night around 10:00 pm when the kidnappers infiltrated the estate, taking the victims from their residence. Barrister Cyril Adikwu, who managed to escape when the kidnappers approached his home, revealed that he is in direct communication with them. The kidnappers have set a deadline for the ransom payment.
Recounting the ordeal, Adikwu stated, “It all happened on Thursday night when a vehicle carrying the kidnapped individuals entered my compound. Suddenly, the kidnappers followed, and I realized the severity of the situation. I screamed for help as they took my wife and in-laws away. About 8 of them walked through the bush over the hill, and within 40 minutes of their departure, they demanded a ransom.”
Adikwu, traumatized by the incident, expressed reluctance to disclose the exact ransom amount due to misinformation circulating in the media. However, he emphasized that the demanded sum exceeds ₦30 million. The kidnappers, maintaining contact with Adikwu, have imposed a time frame for the payment.
A spokesperson from the estate management, preferring to remain anonymous, assured the public that collaborative efforts with security agencies are underway to secure the safe release of the kidnapped victims. Despite immediate alerts and response, the kidnappers managed to escape with the victims before security personnel arrived at the scene. The estate management is committed to working tirelessly to ensure the victims’ safe return.
