Key Suspect in Taraba Student’s Death Found Dead
A fresh twist has emerged in the case of the late Taraba State University student, Comfort Jimtop, as the key suspect in her mysterious death, Emmanuel Kefas, has been found dead in the Tudiri community of Ardo-Kola Local Government Area.
Kefas, who had been linked to the death of Jimtop, a 100-level Mass Communication student, was discovered lifeless under unclear circumstances, according to the Taraba State Police Command. The case had drawn significant attention across the state and within the university, where students had been demanding answers.
Police spokesperson James Lashen confirmed the development on Saturday, stating that the village head of Tudiri alerted authorities about the body. A Tecno Android phone was recovered at the scene, and when charged, investigators found a photo of Kefas and Jimtop together, suggesting a romantic relationship.
The corpse has been taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Jalingo for autopsy. Lashen explained that efforts are underway to trace Kefas’s family for official identification and that the examination will determine the actual cause of death.
At this time, authorities have not classified the circumstances surrounding Kefas’s death as suicide, homicide, or accident. The investigation remains open as police work to unravel the mystery behind the deaths of both Jimtop and Kefas, a double tragedy that has left the university community and residents of Taraba State in shock.
