KEDCO Official Found Dead Following Deceptive Phone Call from Former Colleague

Bello Bukar Adamu, an employee of the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), was discovered deceased days after mysteriously vanishing from his residence.

Adamu’s untimely demise came after he received a phone call from a former colleague at KEDCO, identified as Sadiq, who allegedly enticed him out of his home under the guise of a lucrative job offer.

Last seen on Sunday, May 5, 2024, Adamu left his residence after the fateful call from Sadiq, purportedly regarding a potential job opportunity.

According to Abdullahi Abubakar, Adamu’s younger brother, the deceased harbored aspirations of securing a job at the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and was eager to explore any potential leads. Entrusted by someone claiming to facilitate this opportunity, Adamu left his home, never to return.

Abubakar recounted, “Since he did not return that Sunday, we decided to track his calls. The last word of his conversation with the person on the other end was ‘Alhamdulillah’. From this, we understood that he was lured into believing that the offer was ready-made.”

After exhaustive searches through hospitals, police stations, and mortuaries, Adamu’s family received the devastating news of his discovery in the Kumbotso local government area of the State on May 6.

Investigations implicated Sadiq as the last individual Adamu communicated with before his demise. Subsequently, the Kano State Police Command apprehended Sadiq, who admitted involvement in Adamu’s killing. However, the extent of his complicity and potential accomplices remains under scrutiny.

The Adamu family mourns the loss of their beloved relative, whose burial took place on May 7 amidst profound grief and sorrow in the Gama B area of Kano.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed Sadiq’s arrest and assured ongoing investigation into the matter.

Expressing condolences, KEDCO spokesperson, Bala Sani, lamented Adamu’s passing and clarified that the incident, while tragic, was unrelated to KEDCO’s operations. Sani emphasized the amicable working relationship between Adamu and the suspect, emphasizing that the matter was personal and not reflective of the company’s affairs.
