Kano Files New Charges Against Ganduje for Alleged N57 Billion Fraud
The Kano State Government has announced new charges against Abdullahi Ganduje, the former governor of Kano State. Ganduje, alongside Murtala Garo, a former commissioner for local government, and associates Lamin Sani and Muhammad Takai, is accused of embezzling N57 billion allocated for the state’s 44 local government areas. The funds are alleged to have been converted into dollars for personal use.
This development follows a prior case from a month ago in which Ganduje and Musa Lawan, the former attorney-general, faced accusations of diverting N240 million. The Kano government has indicated that it will present 143 witnesses in this new case.
The indictment includes claims that the defendants acquired various high-value properties, such as serviced and commercial apartments in Dubai, a multi-billion naira hotel in Abuja, and several filling stations in Kano.
A hearing date for the new charges has not yet been set.
