Kano APC Welfare Secretary Resigns, Set to Join ADC
Bashir Tijjani Maisango, Welfare Secretary of the Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has resigned from the party and is expected to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Maisango, a former Assistant Secretary of the APC in Kano and a known grassroots mobiliser, confirmed his decision in a resignation letter dated April 1, 2026, and addressed to the state party chairman. In the letter, he described his exit as voluntary and expressed appreciation for the opportunities he received during his time in the party.
“I, Bashir Tijjani Maisango, hereby voluntarily resign my membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC), effective April 1, 2026. I appreciate the opportunities the party has given me and wish the APC well,” he wrote.
His resignation follows the recent departure of Nasiru Gawuna, a former deputy governor of Kano State, who left the APC on March 30. Sources indicate that Maisango’s decision was taken in solidarity with Gawuna.
According to party insiders, Maisango is expected to formalise his move to the ADC by registering in his Dakata Ward in Kano.
