K1 De Ultimate Issues Full Apology Over Airport Incident, Denies Carrying Alcohol
Fuji music maestro Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, widely known as K1 De Ultimate, has issued a detailed apology following an incident at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. The veteran singer addressed reports that he was carrying alcohol in his flask during security checks, firmly denying these claims and clarifying that the flask contained only water.
In a statement released shortly after the incident, K1 explained that he suffers from chronic dehydration, a medical condition for which his doctor has advised him to stay constantly hydrated. He said this is the reason he always carries a water flask with him when traveling. Contrary to negative reports circulating in the media, he stressed that the flask in question held only water and not alcohol.
K1 went on to describe the security process he underwent at the airport. He revealed that he passed through two separate security screenings with the flask empty. It was only after passing these checkpoints, while at the airport lounge, that he filled the flask with water just before heading to the tarmac. He also invited authorities to verify this through the airport lounge’s CCTV footage. Additionally, K1 clarified that he had neither boarded nor been deboarded from the ValueJet plane at the time of the incident, countering some rumors suggesting otherwise.
Despite contesting the allegations, K1 expressed sincere regret over any concerns or disruptions that arose from the incident. He apologized unreservedly to all parties affected, including the Presidency, the Ministry of Aviation, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and ValueJet Airlines.
K1 further emphasized his deep patriotism and commitment to Nigeria, stating that his career over the past five decades has been dedicated to promoting Nigerian culture and the country’s image worldwide. He reiterated that he would never intentionally do anything to damage his reputation or that of Nigeria.
Concluding his statement, K1 tendered a heartfelt apology to fellow Nigerians, his fans around the world, and all stakeholders involved, assuring them of his continued dedication to upholding the values and responsibilities that come with being a global ambassador of Nigerian music and culture.
