Justice Served as China Executes Couple for Horrific Murder of Innocent Children in Chongqing

The south-western city of Chongqing witnessed the execution of Zhang Bo and Ye Chengchen, a couple convicted of the brutal murder of two toddlers. The tragic incident occurred in 2020 when Zhang, the children’s father, and Ye flung the one-year-old boy and two-year-old girl from the 15th floor of an apartment building.

The Supreme Court of China deemed their actions “extremely malicious” and highlighted the “cruel methods” employed by the couple. The execution took place on Wednesday, with details about the method remaining unclear, although death sentences in China typically involve lethal injection or a firing squad.

Zhang’s inappropriate relationship with Ye, concealed marital and parental status, and subsequent divorce fueled the couple’s conspiracy to eliminate the children. The court revealed that Ye perceived the kids as obstacles to her future with Zhang and burdens in their life together.

The court heard that Ye repeatedly threatened Zhang to carry out the murders, orchestrating them to appear as accidental falls. On November 2, 2020, the horrifying act unfolded as Zhang threw his children from the 15th-floor window.

The news of the execution quickly spread on Chinese social media platform Weibo, garnering hundreds of millions of views. Comments expressed a mix of relief and sorrow, with one user stating, “They totally deserve it for their crime,” and another hoping for the children to find peace and joy in their next life.

Chen Meilin, the grieving mother of the two children, shared on Thursday night, “A nightmare that tortured our family for more than three years has finally disappeared.”

Coincidentally, on the same day, China executed Wu Xieyu, an elite university student found guilty of killing his mother by repeatedly striking her with a dumbbell in 2015. These high-profile cases underscore the nation’s commitment to justice and accountability in the face of heinous crimes.
