Just Like My Father, If You Had Access To Tinubu, You Will Love Him- Seun Kuti

Afrobeats sensation Seun Kuti recently shared his perspective on public perception of political figures during an engaging conversation on The Honest Podcast. The singer, known for his candid opinions, asserted that individuals critical of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would likely have a different view if they had direct access to him.

Seun Kuti, who is the son of the late afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, drew parallels between his own experiences growing up and his observations of politicians’ children. He questioned why many people held negative opinions about his father despite his father’s “cool guy” persona. Kuti revealed that he often pondered this, saying, “Being Fela’s son, growing up in Nigeria, I couldn’t even enter my girlfriend’s father’s house. I used to wonder, ‘Why does nobody like my father? What is it about this guy that nobody likes?'”

He then proceeded to make an intriguing comparison with the current criticism surrounding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Kuti suggested that those who criticize Tinubu today might change their perspective if they were to gain access to him. He went on to assert that the root of people’s animosity toward Tinubu might be the absence of direct access to him.

Seun Kuti’s insights provide a thought-provoking perspective on the dynamics of public opinion in Nigeria’s political landscape. His commentary underscores the idea that personal interactions and access can significantly influence how individuals perceive political figures, highlighting the complexity of public sentiment in a diverse and dynamic society.
