JUST IN: Wife, Mother of Notorious Bandit Leader Ado Aliero Arrested in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabian authorities have arrested two women believed to be the wife and mother of Ado Aliero, one of Nigeria’s most wanted bandit leaders. The arrests reportedly took place in Medina, where the women were allegedly living under false identities.
Sources familiar with the development confirmed that the operation was part of a coordinated intelligence effort between Saudi and Nigerian security agencies. A security official told ABC News that the arrests mark a significant breakthrough in the campaign to dismantle Aliero’s support system, which has long enabled him to evade capture and continue his criminal activities across Zamfara and other parts of Nigeria’s North-West.
Aliero is known for orchestrating mass abductions, killings, and armed attacks, with his network believed to stretch beyond Nigeria’s borders. While Saudi officials have yet to publicly confirm the identities of the women, Nigerian intelligence operatives say they are key persons of interest in ongoing investigations into insurgent financing and logistical operations.
“This development introduces an international dimension to Nigeria’s security challenges,” said a counterterrorism analyst, who spoke on condition of anonymity. “It raises new questions about the global reach of domestic terror cells.”
Nigerian security agencies are now working closely with their Saudi counterparts as the probe continues. Authorities hope the intelligence gathered will deliver a critical blow to Aliero’s transnational operations.
