JUST IN: UNIZIK Appoints Barrister Nwokike Rosemary Ifeoma as Registrar
Barrister Nwokike Rosemary Ifeoma has been appointed as Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, new Registrar. This historic appointment marks the first time an Awka indigene will hold this position, reflecting the university’s commitment to merit and experience in academic leadership.
The selection process, led by the University’s Governing Council, was highly competitive, involving a nationwide search and several rounds of rigorous assessments. Barrister Nwokike’s extensive academic credentials and proven administrative expertise distinguished her from a strong pool of candidates.
Barrister Nwokike holds a Master’s degree in Maritime Law and Policy from the Institute of Maritime Studies at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC), as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a second degree in Law from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). Her educational journey is further highlighted by her ongoing pursuit of a PhD, demonstrating her continuous commitment to academic and professional growth.
Her professional career in university administration spans numerous key roles, beginning as an Assistant Faculty Officer in the Faculty of Law at UNN, and later advancing to critical positions in the Records and Statistics Unit and the Faculty of Business Administration. Notably, she served as Coordinator of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Development Research at UNEC, where she fostered innovative academic-industry partnerships and promoted entrepreneurship education.
In 2022, she took on the role of Unit Head in the Personnel Services Unit at UNEC, further showcasing her administrative leadership by managing human resources and implementing policies that enhanced institutional efficiency. Her leadership has been widely recognized, further bolstered by her involvement in professional organizations such as the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA).
The university community has welcomed her appointment with optimism, anticipating that Barrister Nwokike’s wealth of experience and forward-thinking vision will contribute significantly to the modernization and growth of UNIZIK’s administrative processes.
