JUST IN: Trump Fires USAID Inspector-General After Report Critical of White House
US President Donald Trump has dismissed Paul Martin, the inspector-general of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), following the release of a report that criticized the White House for dismantling the agency.
Martin’s removal was communicated in an email from the deputy director of the Office of Presidential Personnel on Tuesday evening. The email contained a brief message stating that he was “terminated, effective immediately.”
Martin had been appointed to the role in December 2023 by former President Joe Biden. His report, which highlighted concerns over the administration’s handling of USAID, appeared to put him at odds with the White House, leading to his abrupt dismissal.
