JUST IN: Top US action film actor Chuck Norris dies at 86

The US martial artist and actor Chuck Norris has died at the age of 86.

His family confirmed the news in a statement shared on social media on Friday, saying he passed away peacefully while surrounded by relatives. They did not disclose the exact cause of death, requesting privacy as they grieve.

Norris had recently been reported ill and was said to have fallen sick on Thursday while on the Hawaiian island of Kauai.

In their statement, the family described him as a man defined by faith, discipline, and commitment to those around him. They noted that while he was widely known as an action film star and martial arts figure, he was, to them, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother.

Norris gained global recognition through his work in film and television, including his long-running role in the series Walker, Texas Ranger. His film career included titles such as The Way of the Dragon, where he appeared alongside Bruce Lee, as well as Missing in Action, The Delta Force, and The Expendables 2.

Before entering acting, Norris built a successful martial arts career, becoming a six-time world karate champion and earning black belts in multiple disciplines. His fighting style and on-screen presence helped define his public image over several decades.

He began his screen career with a small appearance in the 1968 film *The Wrecking Crew*, and went on to establish a sustained presence in Hollywood action cinema.

In recent years, Norris remained active in public life and social media, including a birthday post last week in which he marked his 86th year with a lighthearted message.

He leaves behind a legacy spanning sports, film, and television, with a body of work that influenced action cinema and introduced martial arts to wider audiences.
