JUST IN: Tinubu’s Minister Uche Nnaji Accused of Certificate Forgery Resigns
Uche Nnaji, Nigeria’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, has resigned from President Bola Tinubu’s administration following allegations of certificate forgery. The resignation was confirmed late Tuesday in a statement by Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga.
Nnaji’s exit comes amid mounting controversy over his academic credentials. An investigation by Premium Times revealed that the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), disowned the Bachelor of Science degree he claimed to have obtained. According to the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Simon U. Ortuanya, Nnaji was admitted in 1981 but did not complete his studies and was never issued a degree certificate.
Further findings by the publication indicated that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) also could not verify the authenticity of the certificate of national service presented by the former minister, describing it as “strange” to the agency.
