JUST IN: Tinubu’s Government Renames Popular Federal University to Yakubu Gowon University
The Federal Government has officially announced the renaming of the University of Abuja (UniAbuja) to Yakubu Gowon University. Minister of Information Mohammed Idris made the announcement after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, which was chaired by President Bola Tinubu on Monday. The decision is a tribute to General Yakubu Gowon (rtd), the former Head of State, who recently marked his 90th birthday. Idris further revealed that the proposal will be sent to the National Assembly for formal approval.
