JUST IN: Tinubu Makes Fresh Appointment to NNPCL Board
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance, to the Board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited as the finance representative. This move is part of a broader restructuring aimed at improving operational efficiency, attracting investors, and fostering economic growth.
The reconstituted 11-member board, effective from April 2, will be chaired by Ahmadu Musa Kida, while Engineer Bashir Bayo Ojulari will serve as the Group Chief Executive Officer. In an official statement, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, emphasized that the new board has been tasked with conducting a strategic portfolio review of NNPC-operated and Joint Venture Assets to ensure optimal value realization.
Mrs. Jafiya, a seasoned technocrat, is expected to play a crucial role in aligning NNPC’s financial strategies with government policies. Her appointment reflects the administration’s commitment to leveraging skilled professionals to drive growth and development in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
With the newly appointed board in place, Nigeria is set for significant transformations in its energy sector. The Ministry of Finance, through Mrs. Jafiya’s expertise, will provide strategic guidance to support NNPC’s objectives and the nation’s broader economic aspirations.
