JUST IN: Speed Darlington Officially Summoned by NAPTIP Over Viral ‘Sex with Minor’ Comments
Controversial entertainer Speed Darlington has been officially invited by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) to clarify his recent online remarks allegedly involving sexual acts with a minor. The invitation follows widespread public outrage and ongoing scrutiny from government agencies, including the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), as earlier reported by SK Blog.
The letter, dated May 28, 2025, and signed under NAPTIP/CSR/TDG/3104/1, was addressed to “Darlington Okoye, alias Speed Darlington.” It requests his appearance before the agency at its headquarters in Abuja on Friday, May 30, 2025, by 9 a.m. The purpose of the meeting is to provide clarification regarding video content that has been widely circulated online — particularly an Instagram live session in which the singer allegedly confessed to engaging in sexual acts with an underage girl.
According to the agency, additional archived videos in circulation also appear to contain “admissions and degrading commentary concerning minors.” NAPTIP states that if substantiated, these actions may constitute offences under the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act (TIPPEA) 2015 and the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.
Speed Darlington had earlier denied the veracity of his confession in a follow-up video, claiming it was fictional content created for engagement as a “content creator.” He insisted the narrative was fabricated and refused to offer further clarification, stating, “I’m not explaining nothing.”
DSVA previously confirmed it had escalated the matter to NAPTIP, as the incident did not fall within its Lagos jurisdiction. The Lagos State Government also reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy on sexual and gender-based violence and urged the public to report any useful information.
NAPTIP has now taken the next step, inviting Darlington to present himself and any legal representation or relevant documents for the upcoming interview.
