JUST IN: Senator Natasha Fined ₦5 Million for Contempt
The Federal High Court in Abuja has fined Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan ₦5 million for contempt of court. The ruling, delivered by Justice Binta Nyako on Friday, stated that the Kogi Central lawmaker violated a previous court order by publishing a satirical apology directed at Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Justice Nyako held that the tone and manner of the apology defied the spirit of the court’s instruction and amounted to willful disobedience. As part of the penalty, the court further directed Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan to issue a formal apology in two national newspapers and on her official Facebook page within seven days.
The senator is currently under suspension.
