JUST IN: Rivers Assembly Clerk Disowns Pro-Fubara Faction, Reaffirms Amaewhule as Speaker
In a recent development at the Rivers State House of Assembly, the Clerk, Emeka Amadi, has firmly disassociated himself from the pro-Governor Sim Fubara faction, asserting that Martin Amaewhule remains the legitimate Speaker.
Amadi reiterated that three members of the assembly aligned with Fubara—Hon. Victor Oko Jumbo, Hon. Sokari Goodboy Sokari, and Hon. Adolphus Orubimie Timothy—were suspended on October 30, 2023, rendering them ineligible to claim positions within the House.
Despite this, on Thursday, a group of lawmakers appointed Jumbo as the new Speaker of the Assembly, igniting further tension within the political landscape of Rivers State.
