JUST IN: Restaurant Owner Shot Dead by Vigilante Operatives in Enugu

In a tragic incident on Monday night, a well-known restaurant owner, known simply as Oforma, or Ofor Onye Ofe Olugbu, met his untimely demise at the hands of vigilante operatives in Enugu State. The shooting occurred at Ogrute roundabout in the Igboeze North Local Government Area.

According to eyewitnesses, the security team had arrived at Oforma’s restaurant with the intention of making an arrest. However, their efforts were met with resistance from the restaurant owner himself. What ensued was a confrontation between Oforma and the security operatives, leading to a fatal shot being fired, striking Oforma in the back.

In the chaos that followed, the security personnel fled the scene, leaving behind their vehicle which was later set ablaze by enraged youths in the area. Despite efforts to save him, Oforma succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at St. Mary’s Hospital Ogrute early Tuesday morning.

A video circulating online depicted the burning wreckage of the security vehicle, as outraged youths expressed their anger over the incident. Reports indicate that the community has mobilized to track down the fleeing security personnel.

The Concerned Igboeze North Youths (CINY) took to social media to lament the loss of Oforma, urging authorities to swiftly investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to justice. They emphasized the devastating impact of his death on his family and the community at large.

As of the time of this report, the Enugu Police Command had not issued a statement regarding the incident.
