JUST IN: Presidential Yacht Excluded from 2023 Supplementary Budget as Reps Redirect Funds to Student Loans
The House of Representatives has chosen to eliminate the allocation of N5 billion for a presidential yacht from the 2023 supplementary budget. The decision was officially disclosed by the Chairperson of the House Committee on Appropriation, Abubakar Bichi, who represents the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Kano.
This significant alteration to the supplementary budget was announced on Thursday following the successful passage of the N2.17 trillion supplementary budget by the House. The decision to remove the presidential yacht allocation underscores a shift in priorities, redirecting the funds towards another crucial area of government expenditure.
Mr. Bichi, addressing journalists on the matter, revealed that the committee had opted to reallocate the N5 billion initially designated for the presidential yacht, effectively increasing the budget for student loans to N10 billion. This adjustment reflects a concerted effort to address the financial needs of students seeking higher education and aligns with broader national objectives.
