JUST IN: President Tinubu Appoints Son of Ibrahim Babangida as Chairman of Bank of Agriculture, Makes 8 Other Key Appointments

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Muhammad Babangida, son of former military President Ibrahim Babangida, as the new Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture. The announcement, made on Thursday, July 18, includes eight other appointments to strategic positions in federal agencies, signaling the administration’s continued push to strengthen institutions critical to national development.

 

Muhammad Babangida, 53, is a graduate of the European University in Montreux, Switzerland, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s in Public Relations and Business Communication. He also completed an executive program on Corporate Governance at Harvard Business School in 2002.

 

Others appointed by the President include Lydia Kalat Musa from Kaduna State as Chairman of the Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority (OGFZA), and Jamilu Wada Aliyu from Kano State as Chairman of the National Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC). Hon. Yahuza Ado Inuwa, also from Kano State, has been named Chairman of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON).

 

Sanusi Musa (SAN), another Kano State native, will now serve as Chairman of the Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR), while Professor Al-Mustapha Alhaji Aliyu from Sokoto State has been appointed Director-General of the Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa (DTCA).

 

Also on the list is Sanusi Garba Rikiji from Zamfara State, who takes over as Director-General of the Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations (NOTN). Mrs Tomi Somefun from Oyo State has been appointed Managing Director of the National Hydro-Electric Power Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC), and Dr Abdulmumini Mohammed Aminu-Zaria from Kaduna State becomes the Executive Director of the Nigerian Integrated Water Resources Management Commission (NIWRMC).

 

The appointments were confirmed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
